Latest Obsession

Chairs.

I can't get enough of 'em!

Modern, sleek, plastic, whatever they are--

I'm obsessed with looking at them and have to constantly wipe the drool off my chin when I explore what stores on the interwebs have to offer.

Hey, some people look at porn, and some people look at chairs*. To each their own.

Anyway, here are my latest obsessions. I can't be held responsible for your malfunctioning typepad after you look at these--might I suggest a ready napkin or plastic keyboard cover?

*Note: I have, on occasion, been known to look at porn, too. I guess I'm just the pot that Goldilocks chose.

Apartment Therapy

It's been a while...

I finally moved and am nearly done decorating my new digs. If I had the means, I would probably never be done decorating, but at this point, I've gone way over my budget and feel pretty content!

Anyway, I came early one day to paint the walls.

I chose Behr Rhythmic Blue for the dining/living area and kitchen. It's a light, almost Robin's egg blue that goes really well with both the dark wood on the kitchen cabinets and table and the cement loft ceiling.

For the bedroom wall behind my bed, I chose Behr Squash. It's a really outstanding gold/yellow tone that really worked out better than I expected.

I'm still thinking of painting the bathroom, but I have yet to decide on a color. I have a can of mint green I bought forever ago, but I'm not in love with it. I'm thinking I might go with a deeper green shade--like a grass color.

Anyway, pictures to follow...

a lady of modern means and a vintage heart

my lovely friend, l., who also happens to be a design goddess, is making me a pair of silhouettes for my new apartment. we were searching for appropriate oval frames for said silhouettes, when i came upon this showroom in l.a.: woodson and rummerfield's house of design

i fell in love and think they hit the nail on my head with this style--many of these rooms incorporate hunter chic and the vintagey-look. they call it "modage"--modern & vintage. i am trying to figure out a way to make my walls look like they do in any of these rooms. i love the color schemes, too:

Only In Dreams

by now, you've probably heard about the themed hotel trend. there's the one in the converted jail, the one underwater, and the one made out of ice, etc. BUT, as of 2007, there has been a particularly peculiar one on the scene: Propeller Island City Lodge in Berlin. now, i understand the idea of turning lodging into an art form, but does it really make people want to stay there? take a look at some pictures of the rooms, and you be the judge.

welcome to our hotel. perhaps you like to try our floating bed room:
